EXB TAP HANDLE

This was a three day design project I did for a tap handle design contest on 99designs.com. The goal was to maintain a sleek and luxurious aesthetic while using inspiration from the old telephone exchange itself. http://exchangebrewery.com/

The goal was to find a luxurious aesthetic that could also incorporate interchangeable tops, therefore eliminating the need to remove the entire tap handle when a keg is kicked. The line work on the anodized aluminum tap handle body is abstractly inspired from the many connections on a telephone switchboard as seen above.  The brewery is named The Exchange because it is housed in the first telephone exchange in Niagara. This tie to the telephone and numbers is shown in the names of their beers and branding.

One of the design requirements was to have an interchangeable top piece. This allows the bartender to quickly add a new beer to the lineup without removing the entire handle. The colored piece in the middle indicates the color of the beer on tap, while the top piece indicates which beer is on tap.
